What's the difference between an Ultrabook laptop and a Notebook laptop?

Q. I'm looking to buy a new laptop. Please give specific, informative and accurate details. No links please!
Thanks :)

A. An Ultrabook is a higher-end type of subnotebook defined by Intel. Intel claims a trademark in the name Ultrabook. Ultrabooks are designed to feature reduced size and weight and long battery life while retaining strong performance. They use low-power Intel CULV processors with integrated graphics, solid-state drives for fast loading times, and unibody chassis to fit larger batteries into smaller cases. Because of their minimal size, the ability to have many ports (USB, HDMI, VGA, ethernet, etc) is limited.

By this marketing initiative and an associated $300 million fund, Intel hopes to influence the slumping PC market against rising competition from tablet computers, which are typically powered by competing ARM-based processors.

A laptop, also called a notebook, is a personal computer for mobile use. A laptop integrates most of the typical components of a desktop computer, including a display, a keyboard, a pointing device (a touchpad, also known as a trackpad, and/or a pointing stick) and speakers into a single unit. A laptop is powered by mains electricity via an AC adapter, and can be used away from an outlet using a rechargeable battery.

Are Ultrabook good for graphic design work?
Q. If so, which is a good brand model to get?

A. As good as other laptops if you want one with discrete GPU. Of course, i7 qm is the best CPU, however, ...

Thanks!

Should I buy a touchscreen laptop or a ultrabook?
Q. I can't decide which to get. I will be using it for college. So I will be carrying it with me in my backpack to class each day. I am majoring in information technology programming if that makes a difference. I know that touchscreen laptops will be cheaper also, but not as great for portability. Also what brand should I get?

A. Do a little research dude.
Touch screen laptops also are affordable. Well, the word affordable has different meaning with what your affordability limit is.
How ever, for $1K you can get either of those.
How ever, since you are going to college, the main point should be, what do you really need?
Are you going to use touch screen a lot? Develop apps for that ? If not, there is no point in going there.
And Ultra books, well, they are portable, light weight. but are expensive compared to regular ones.
Again, you are a student, a couple of pounds on the back doesn't hurt. A regular laptop does the job for you, for your projects and home works. And you can save a little here for other resources for college.
Its your choice.
Spend more or spend less.

Personally, I would go for a regular laptop, if I were in college.
