What are some cheap laptops that I can upgrade and build myself?

Q. I need a laptop and I prefer to build my own just like I did with my desktop, but I just need a cheap laptop that I can upgrade things like graphic cards, processors, RAM, ect. Also where can I get one? It can be new or used.

A. Have just answered your earlier question,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220715

now just think for a moment, what a laptop is as compared to a desktop
look at the space inside a desktop, now how does that compare with a laptop

second, have you seen graphics cards for laptops being sold in stores or online or ...

so basically laptops are very compact units using proprietary parts mostly
so in most cases, only ram & hard drive are upgradeable

now there do exist another segment called barebones laptops, where you can possibly upgrade somebit more than normal laptops

asus c90 is another, but then this is a more expensive route

What site is good for selling cheap laptops?
Q. I'm looking towards buying a new laptop in the $300-400 range that has decent specifications and holds your basic needs. I found a few on the BestBuy website, but they were not available anymore.

A. That price range is relegated to the most base-line units when shopping for new units. Dell has a $400 Inspiron http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-15-n5030/fs Acer has a $400 model http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/model/LX.R4G02.060 and you will find most other manufacturer's have similar offerings... Toshiba http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/cdetland.to?poid=495854 etc...

Best Buy will occasionally have open box one-of deals that are $50 or more less than the online listed price... http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olstemplatemapper.jsp?_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&_dynSessConf=-7896193238062850792&id=pcat17080&type=page&lcn=Computers&sc=abComputerSP&st=processingtime%3A%3E1900-01-01&usc=abcat0500000&cp=1&sp=%2Bcurrentprice+skuid&nrp=15&qp=crootcategoryid%23%23-1%23%23-1~~q70726f63657373696e6774696d653a3e313930302d30312d3031~~cabcat0500000%23%230%23%2311a~~cabcat0502000%23%230%23%23o~~nf518||4c657373207468616e2024363030&add_to_pkg=false&pagetype=listing prices started $299

The lower the price, the fewer they will have available. Sometimes you can find good deals at http://geeks.com and http://www.newegg.com

end of line
